The team at Deliver are incredibly proud of our client David Plane from LEDA who recently took part in The Long Ride Home challenge. This event saw David and 8 other cyclists: Jack Bloy, Jon Bloy, Tim Burdett, Steve Cook, David Ferguson, Mark Goudy, Ollie Newman, and Graeme Savill, making the massive 370-mile journey from London to Newcastle to raise funds for a charity that is very close to his heart: The Sick Children’s Trust.

Starting from Rainbow House in central London on 7th June, the cycling team crossed the finished line at Crawford House in Newcastle yesterday, Sunday 11th June. The journey took them to all ten of the charity’s ‘Homes from Homes’ based in London, Cambridge, Sheffield, Leeds, and Newcastle.

About The Sick Children’s Trust

The Sick Children’s Trust is a charity that aims to give families one less thing to worry about when their child goes into hospital. When a child has to stay in hospital families often don’t have time to plan, the only thing that matters is being at the hospital.

The Trust provides them with a home from home and much needed support free of charge, so they can be close to their child without the added stress of travel. Since opening in 1982, the charity has helped more than 73,000 families, giving them somewhere to stay and someone to listen when they have needed it most.

David and his family are one family who were helped by The Sick Children’s Trust in 2015. His son Brody required specialist treatment at The Royal London Hospital after he was born being unable to breathe from inhaling meconium during labour. He spent 30 days fighting for his life an hour away from the family’s home. The charity gave them a place at Stevenson House, so they could be close to the hospital and stay by Brody’s side. Since Brody’s recovery, David has regularly worked to raise funds for the charity.

Thanks to David and the team’s amazing efforts, they have been able to raise an impressive £42,977 for The Sick Children’s Trust. Allowing the charity to keep helping families across the UK for many more years to come. Well done to everyone involved!
