Jay Ratcliffe
Graphic Designer
From a foundation degree in art & design to a degree in graphic design and illustration, Jay continued his graphic design journey with an internship at Liverpool Biennial and became a lead designer for the education sector before making the leap to work agency side.
Jay joined the team in April 2022 as Deliver’s graphic designer. Jay interprets all client briefs and designs completely bespoke identities to establish who the brand is and the nature of the business.
Outside of Work
“I enjoy the gym, I go most mornings. But my real passion is playing in my band, I play guitar and I love it because I’ve been playing for nearly 16 years and I still feel like I don’t know everything, I’m still able to learn new stuff and that’s really cool. “

I’d have a big ol’ steak.

Winter.
Q: If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life what would it be?
The Shining.
Q: A country/ city you want to go to but have never been to?
Los Angeles, hopefully going soon.

Jay's Journey
Q: How did you get into the industry?
I went from A-Levels to a Foundation Degree in Art & Design, following that I went to Liverpool John Moores University studying Graphic Design and Illustration. This led to an internship at the Liverpool Biennial in 2018 and then I found employment for Cheshire College – South & West as their lead Designer before joining Deliver.
Q: What does a normal day look like for you?
A day could look like anything from interpreting briefs set by clients to designing bespoke identities for businesses and brands, all of which involve a lot of sketching.
Q: Common misconceptions about your job?
Friends and Family tend to think I work at the Apple shop the amount of times I get asked to help fix something that’s gone wrong on their phones.
Q: If you weren’t working in your current role, what job would you like to have if you could have any?
I think I’d have made a pretty good footballer at one point, with a defensive likeness to Sami Hyypia. But in all seriousness, if I wasn’t doing this I’d be doing something music related i.e sound engineer or production.
Q: What job did your younger self think you would have?
Footballer or Electrician, I was either an extreme realist or an extreme daydreamer.
Q: What do you do outside of work?
